.... I'm coated in a fine "Pelt" like fur that cuts my wind resistance co-efficient to 0.234.

do you disconnect the front sway bar when you go off road?
i've been removing mine for harder trips and am thinking that the extra articulation might have attributed also.

Yep, when I'm actually offroading I certainly do remove the front swaybar, but swaybar or no, the front end will drop to the max extention, it's just that you can have one wheel max extention and the other at max compression with the swaybar removed, with the swaybar on, it simply equalizes the presures involved, and you'll fine more articualtion is sent to the rear of the KJ. With the swaybar removed, I find less articulation needed in the rear as if I was going over the same terrain, with the swaybar on. I also find, with the bar off, I get far less rubbing in the rear wheel wells, once again, articulation is equally distributed arcoss the entire vehicle, rather that the front being restricted and forcing all to the rear..
But, with this "less resistance" in the front, that means that it will bottom out quicker and with more momentum, and that in turn will place more stress on all the limiting points. Remember, with our lifts and IFS, when the strut reaches maximum extention, and stops the downward movement of the front end, its not just the weight of the components that it is stopping, it is also stopping the highly compressed heavey duty front coils.
