Default Under Hood Temp Exhaust Mod

Has anyone done this yet? I am thinking about doing it myself but not sure where to start from? I think it will definately help reduce the engine heat and improve performance.

it is a good way to keep heat down, but i have read that the wrap can cause the headers to crack from the extreme heat not been able to escape, and moisture can also be a problem, and the tape i have also heard goes hard and brittle, ( i have only read these things the may not be true) we have considered doing the same thing then the idea kind of got lost, anyway i think ceramic coating would be a better option, also replacing the factory headers with performance one, as they the are prone to cracking(or is that just the XJ ones?) here is another thread about headers http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...=xj+extractors

i have used exhaust wraps. not sure if it kept the heat down.

all it did was make my headers crack after 12mths from brand new.

the tape went brittle and eventually falls off anyway.

so trying to keep the heat down by exhaust wrap didnt work for me.

instead i got hood vents.

Why do you want to reduce your engine heat? Is it your engine running hotter than normal?
