Lightbulb XJ Limited driving lights

Hi,
Haven't been on here for ages have been real busy restoring my VJ Charger. Anyway, my 1995 XJ Limited has a nudge bar fitted including the brackets to fit a pair of driving lights. I have been looking and researching for a week now on what to buy in the 6" mid price range. Checked out a few lights sets at supercrap this morning. Prices still frightened me off there so dropped in to see my brother who has a 2006 Hilux and a 2004 land cruiser. He has a set of rallye 4000's fitted to his Hilux. Asked him if he had any old lamps so he grabs the rallye box and says you can have these old ones if you like and pulls out a set of 160 Hella lamps. Needless to say I had those bolted up on the XJ in 1 minute flat!
Next to the wiring......I have an Ingram 30A relay and some good 4mm cable ready to wire the Hella's up.
I have noticed my XJ Limited has a driving lamp switch next the the steering wheel. The LED comes on when I switch it on so I was wondering if the switch is already wired up to a relay somewhere for possibly a dealer or factory fitted spot lamp option??
Any XJ Limited owners out there come across this switch before?
Thanks, Dave.

Nope that switch is for your rear fog lights and will only illuminate when you have headlights switched on

Yes that switch is for your rear fog lamps. Please keep them off unless it's actually foggy I'm pretty sure all Limiteds had them standard, as well as the trans mode, leaving no spots left for driving light switch fitment!

Actually I'm always interested to see where people do put their switches, currently I've got mine hooked up directly to high beams.... (naughty I know! During the day I sometimes put the covers on to prevent accidently blinding people as you can't tell if high beams are on until main beams are activated)

Hi,
Well I tried the switch out with lights on and there they were......the fog lights! Kind of look like the brake lights are on Was planning on wiring the 4mm feed current straight from the battery to the 30A relay and just pilot the lights off the high beam wire in the loom.
Thanks for the XJ tech support!
Dave.

And therein lies one of the main problems with people driving around with the things on when its not foggy ... confusion

The rules say to have a switch in the highbeam, activating wire for your driving lights .... but theres rules and there is rules ......

It is handy tho ... on long straight roads ... to be able to switch off your driving lights and continue on for a while longer on highbeam ... before actually needing to dip to lowbeam for the oncoming traffic.

Lightbulb

Good point on the switch, will probably fit one for the option so when all that high beam shuts down I get time to adjust. Dave
