Default Battery Question (V6 Petrol)

My kids were playing in the car a few days ago and left the keys in it turned to Accessories. Needless to say the battery is COMPLETELY DEAD!!!

Am I better to jump start and take it for a drive for a short while, or stick a battery charger on it (In the manual it says to disconnect the leads first)?

If the latter, my battery charger gives me three options of batteries: Calcium, Sealed/Wet, or Gel. Which one does the JK have?

My JK has a standard Lead Acid battery.

If it was me, I would probably use the wet/sealed option.
Best to read the user manual though rather than guessing.

You could destroy the battery if you choose the wrong setting.

The type shoud be written on the battery. The difference between the selection on the battery charger would be the charging voltages & times for each stage of charge. It's pretty important to get the correct charge type for some batteries other types are fairly tollerant. If jump starting is an option do that & go for a drive for 30 minutes. Be aware that completely flattening a battery can reduce it's life expectancy.

Cheers

Bri

mate if it is dead flat, use a battery charger, it will give a slower charge rate and less stress on the battery. just leave it on overnight or even 4 or 5 hours if you have to keep it short. that will give you enough that your high charge alternator can finish the job without damage. asfor the type of battery read your handbook (assuming you have a factory battery)

You let the kid play in the car with the keys in the ignition?

It was their mum!!!!!!!! At aged almost 4 and almost 2, I don't think they could co-ordinate turning the key and pushing the clutch down at the same time, so the only damage they could do was what they did!!
