Default Dumb Dealers

The other day I went in to the local Jeep dealer's spare parts area here in Darwin. All I wanted to buy was an Air Filter for my 2003 2.7 CRD Grand.
The guy looked it up on his computer.....
"There's no such car" he said.
"Yes there is" I said.
"No" he said "there is only a 4.0L and a 4.7L".
"And a 2.7L CRD" I said.
"No there isn't you must have it wrong. Have you got the VIN number? Without the VIN number I can't check what the actual make is" he said looking at me like I was some stupid girl
"I told you what the make was" I said.
But he refused to help me until I brought him back the VIN. I went back to my car got the VIN.
He punches the VIN into his computer and then says
"This is a Patriot not a Grand Cherokee.
I said
"No its a Grand Cherokee, but the colour is Patriot Blue."
"Oh!" he says

I have never experienced such a complete lack of knowledge of any product, car or otherwise.

Or the Jeep dealer used car salesman who asks ....

"What sort of wrangler is that"

When you ask whether they have any XJ Cherokees .......

Problem is I think ... that there are very few aust dealers with any pride in the product .....

Jeep was simply another product to unload on the public to make a profit from.
