Default woo hoo, i'm a jeeper!!

gudday people
well i'm the proud new owner of a 97 cherokee XJ, pre update. bit of a roughy, but we weren't lookin for a show pony, this is gettin used has 151k on the clock and i got it for roughly $2900. it has aprox. 2" lift and 16" alloys. otherwise pretty stock. paint is average, has rusted out DS floor, gettin fixed tomorrow. i've already replaced the gearbox mount, shockie bushes and hooked up the spotties and got all the interior lights workin again. once the rust is fixed i can blueslip it and start motorin

i need a spare tyre holder, the rear one on the bumper. anyone know price and availability?

also, whats the little black dome on the inside roof, centre of windscreen??? looks like a security camera from big w (do i need my foil hat?)
i have a few pics from the addvertisement, i'll post more as i get them...
cheers

G'day bruggz351,

Welcome to the Jeep community! I'm an XJ owner as well. 1996 for me.

The little black dome is the infrared pickup for the keyless entry. Many keyfobs have been lost or broken over the years. You can order aftermarket replacements, or go down the same route as me and wack an alarm in that will lock/unlock the doors for you.

Nice looking beast you have there. The 2 inch lift looks alot more of a 2 inch lift compared to mine!

Spare wheel carriers are common. I have the kaymar type, have a look around. Cheaper models are available for around 1000, more expensive closer to 2000. Maybe consider moving it to the roof. Many people have done this.

thanks blokes,
yeah that lift is measured from the centre of the axle to the wheel arch, vertically. i got the stock measurements from the RTA, believe it or not
a "vehicle descriptor sheet" its called. i think the 16's add a little to the lift too
wow, 1-2 grand for a carrier ay? hmmm, roof is a bl**dy good idea me thinks
looking forward to chatting on here, and hopefully meeting a few in the future.
cheers
