Default 100K Service Quote

Rang the Melbourne City Jeep dealership to get an idea of the cost of a 100K service on an '05 KJ Sports CRD and the bloke said about $1700 including replacing the timing belt.

How does that price fit in with people's experiences?

The things people neglect is looking at future maintaince costs.
Spending 1700 now may save you thousands in the not so distant future
That just my opinion as someone who does it for a living.
Cheers Paul

Yes that price is about right from a dealer...with replacing the timing belt etc.......make sure they also do pulleys & tensioners aswll at the same time.
When I had my 100k service done they only did the belt...and neglected to inform me that the pulleys + tensioners would also requre replacing.....this cost me another $1200 down the track which could have been done at the same time as the belt and saving on labour charges etc

Yes that's true, but they only use genuine parts and offer a long warranty on what they do. You would need to know your independent specialist real well to maintain that level of satisfaction and security....

Angry

Dont feel too bad. I was verbally quoted $1800.00 one day by Adelaide City Jeep and when i emailed them the next day for a written quote they got back to me with a quote for $2040.00. I have since been in touch with George from VM Diesel in UK and he is going to supply me with all,and i mean ALL the necessary parts including the two front seals (not just the belt) for around $460.00. A mechanic will be doing the replacement for approx $450.00. I was told by the dealership they would need the car for 2 days, and told by the mechanic that is doing the job that it is around a 4-5 hour job,so where does 2 days fit into the equasion
From my experiences i have had with dealerships, they charge for the name Jeep.
When i had brought my XJ 2.5 TD from the same dealership in 2002 i enquired about the need to get the timing chain/belt replaced at the 100,000km mark, not knowing it did not have a timing chain/belt and was gear driven.Guess what, they got back to me with a quote for replacing a non existant chain/belt and the price for non existant labour.Come on,if the dealership can't get it right
Sorry, the dealerships do nothing for me,and i will only use them if i have no other choice.
