can be a uni joint problem. My front one shot through. At slow speed you can hear it but when you get up to speed it goes away. They are cheap to replace.

More info. It could be anything that is put under strain when taking off. That could be everything. Suspension, steering, drive line. Explain the sound more. Can you feel it in the car as well as hear it? Can you feel it through the steering wheel, floor, seat, gear stick? More info M8.

I had the joint between my cat and cat back come loose once when the U bolt had rusted. I got a clunk when starting off and when changing from first to second gear. Didn't hear it at any other time. Took me a while to find it, I was checking all the suspension and drive train under the rear of the Jeep and it was all solid, didn't even think about the exhaust being the cause as it was a clunk rather that a rattle.

Rear uni joint?? Mine did it then broke. Check to see if there is any play in it. Park on a flat level surface leave it in nuetral And have a look at the uni. If you have some play in it best to pull the driveshaft out and replace the uni.
