Default Optima D34 battery - any good?

All the local battery fitters around here have got this listed as the one I have to replace existing one with.

A) is it any good as seems bloody expensive and I'm sure i've read about them over heating?

B) what is the stock one (08 sports petrol) which doesn't look anything like the Optima, but more like a normal wet cell. Why can't I just put same back in?

cheers,

Just put the same back in mate. Even in the diesels where an optima is fitted standard most are replacing with a more affordable heavy duty conventional battery.

The Optima yellow top D34 are an excellent battery. They will take heaps of abuse.

But then again I suppose you get what you pay for.

I thought the D34 was standard replacement for the CRD Optima battery but the Petrols dont use the Optima, can correct me if I wrong on that.

If you were to use the new D34 then you will have years of trouble free use. The design is great for off-road use (vibration) and the battery can crank some serious amps!

They are not cheap but you do get what you pay for with batteries and if you go Gel, AGM or spiral they do deliver good service.

FWIW

Matt.

Cool.

Are the + - posts in the correct position?
i.e Positive (left) , Negative (Right).

The D34 batteries will start tractor motors.
