Default Quadra Drive II noisy

I have a WH 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Is the Quadra Drive II supposed to clunk and grind when its trying to gain traction.

I dont have a WH but I reckon I read on this forum that its normal for QDII diff locks to be quite noisey when locking/unlocking especially in low range.

Hi john t,
i have a hemi wh qd2 and give it heaps off road. yes it does clunk and bang and grind a bit. The system shifts torque around to whatever wheel has traction and seems to make a bit less noise when the traction control is turned off which doesnt stop the limited slip part of the system but turns off the computer that controls part of the wheel spin, braking, antiskid, torque reducton etc.

Ive found it best when in sloppy mud to have traction control on but in soft sand where momentum is needed to have it turned off. you can even turn it on and off while travelling along on difficult tracks to let it overspeed the wheels for a bit.

Dont worry it took me about 5 off road trips to get used to the 'strange' noises it makes, now its point and go.
