Do i have a diff lock?

Hey i am very new to jeeps and i have just bought a 1995 Cherokee limited classic xj.

and i was looking though the manual and sore that it said something about when in full time 4wd the center diff's lock or something like that?

i could be completely wrong but i have no idea so i thought i would ask you.

That's standard, the diffs are still open but the center diff in the transfer case locks it in full time 4WD, basically it means it will always send drive to the front and rear diffs. Without the center diff locked if one of the wheels (front or rear) looses traction you stop moving, with the center diff locked you need one rear and one front to loose traction before you stop.

Other way round, transfer case is locked in part time 4wd, in full time it slips. full time 4wd is AWD.

You should only use part time off road, thats why its 'part time'.

Center diffs are an AWD thing -- nothing whatever to do with diff locks for getting out of bogs (in case that's not completely obvious by now

Chances are you won't even have a limited slip diff in the rear either...
