Default DIY Brake Pad servicing

Hi Guys,
I am considering changing my dic brake pads on my 2005 KJ Cherokee Sport myshelf. But is there any drama with the ABS sensors, when you remove and refit the pads.
I have read the manual about replacing the pads, but it did not mention the ABS sensors, but I know they are there. Has any one gone down this road offer advise. Also are genuine pads the way to go, or are aftermarket as good, maybe better.

Regards Rob

No ABS is out of the way of pad replacement. Remember, if just changing pads, the disc's will need to be machined, so thats taking them somewhere to get it done. You can replace the disc's and pads yourself at home. As far as pads go, there are afew options read this thread it has some links.

I don't really think that much can be done with the disc themselves. My Jeep mechanic friend had a look at mine recently and told me that given the lip on the disc, they would likely swap out the disc when they change the pads. Machining only puts off the inevitable and why pay twice to have someone go in there. Machining also increases the risk of disc warp (as these things cannot be turned down much).
