Default WH front drive shaft

Hello team,

I have just had my second front drive shaft fail. The failures occurred at 103k and now at 135k. I am asking for warranty on the drive shaft as it is $1,250.00 fitted

I have had a 35mm lift from King springs on the Gold Coast at about 50K after my dealer who serviced my car said they have done a few conversions themselves with springs supplied by Kings.

I have just gone down to the dealer to see how my vehicle is going and was told by a "service guy" that they all chew out once lifted.

I questioned this, as the lift is only 35mm but more importantly being a IFS system on the WH the angles between gearbox and front diff have not changed, unlike a solid axle.

I then questioned why Mopar sell lovell springs on their website, why are dealers fitting King Springs or could it be that they are made from aluminium which possible cannot handle 510Nm of torque? additionally I asked If was towing a heavy trailer or had bags of cement in the back of my rig sagging my rear end by 35 mm would that chew it out all so? I just received a blank stare

I await for the response from Chrysler.

jenkomagic,

You are right the angle between the gearbox and front diff does not change. It can't because of the front independent suspension. It seems to me that there is a manufacturing fault with the front shafts but I doubt you will find that jeep will admit that.

I thought so, I noticed there was a TSB on SRT weak drive shafts in 06 onwards they were recalled and replaced, not the WH though

Hey jenkomagic,
Have you been doing any serious off roading, or have your drive shafts failed with just normal city driving?

No I have not. Since I blew up my engine and had it replaced by Chrysler the vehicle is used as a second car by my wife. Once a week I drive it up the freeway to work and take it in the park across the road in low range just to keep things lubricated etc.

I have had so many people work on my vehicle at different dealers with some claiming other dealer faults especially with transmission rebuild it received. The same dealer rebuilt my front differential and replaced the drive shaft also.

Chrysler have come back saying they will not warranty my drive shaft as it is "out of warranty".

Well got the official response from Chrysler that my drive shaft would not be warranted as it was past its "Parts Warranty"
It lasted 31,000km's. You would have thought they learnt their lesson last time
