Default gearstick shaking

hey guys got a question, does anyones gearstick shake violently when shifted to a higher gear at low rpm, eg 70kph 4th to 5th change, it only seem to happen when i touch the throttle as 5th gear is selected and then it goes away after a second or so, ive only got 32s and a 2inch lift so it shouldnt be the driveline struggling? maybe a gearbox mount? its a 09 v6 manual 2door cheers....

Metal, I have the auto so I can only advise as a mechanic. Yes the situation you are describing 4-5th at low speed is a huge anmount of torque on the driveline and if it will flex the mounts..this is when it can do it. Do you notice it at the start of any gear change or is 4-5th the only one you are looking at?

Now how much flex the stock mounts have...no idea, as I said I have the auto dont get a visual on torque reaction. I guess some of the other boys can advise if yours is excessive. If you think you have a problem then you can throw a jack under the sump (use a block of wood to protect it) and gently take some weight off the engine mounts to see if you have ripped the offside one. Second grab the rear extension housing of the box and give it a shake to see if the rear mount is still firm.

If they are good, then it should be normal and nothing to worry about.
Matt.

Default Shifty knob hey

The gear lever on the manuals is quite long so it kinda multiplies the vibration, if you change gears at the peak of your torque range, the rattle shouldn't be too bad but yeah if your changing gear too early your really load up the gearbox like macca said.
If you have broke a mount it should be vibrating in everygear and you should be able to feel it most when you pop the clutch in first.
On the other hand 4-5 is the most direct drive in the gearbox (not underdriver 1-4 and not over driven 5-6) so it could be something like a uni or something.
Hope that's a bit of help

On road only while in 4th gear does it moves the most.
But not in other gears as much.

Off road is another story.. Totally wild then.

5th gear is designed to whack you in the leg over any large bumps in the road!
