On an 06 KJ - Unlocked the central locking (door button) then pul out the rear door handle one click.

Probably not a bad idea that you can't accidentaly pop open the rear glass while your sailing along....

My 06, wont do it at all, even if the key is in the ignition but engine not working.
Based on evidence in this thread it looks like 04 was the last year for them that do work.

Another annoyance is the fact that the rear glass locks itself during travel, but doesnt unlock automatically when car stopped!

Cheers
Rossow.

Yes, in my 04 the rear door and glass would auto lock the moment you started to move, I kinda dont mind that actually as it means nobody can walk up to the rear of the car at lights and just open the back. My 03 doesnot seem to lock the rear when I move, whether this is that it doesnt or its broken and doesnt work anymore, I have no idea.

I also agree, I thought it very strange when I first got the KJ that there was not a button on the dash somewhere to simply pop the rear glass.

Button or no button, i cant open the glass with the engine running. Its the sillyest thing ive ever seen - what if you pick someone up and they wanna throw their stuff in the car? you've gotta start/stop the car. So CRAP!

The centre console button appears only for the power windows...
