Very good to meet you too mate, and have a chat around the struggling campfire, haha.
The trip was awesome, we head off first thing the next morning, made it to Googs Lake in a few hours and set up camp, sunk a few brews and enjoyed the peace. The next day, it started to rain in the morning, being South Australia, we all thought it'd blow over, nup, packed up wet, then it pissed down for the majority of the day, absolutely teemed in the arvo, the track was like a river! It cleared up and we had a ripper night around the fire at Mt Finke.
In the morning I cleared my head, the others all wanted to climb the mountain, I wanted to check out Tarcoola and get to the Kingoonya pub so bailed early. About 3 dunes from the end, the track was soooo churned up, I discover old mate in a Ford Territory who had entered from the nothern end and was stuck, he'd spent the night on the track, haha. Me and another bloke tried to get him out, the MaxTrax were cutting up his road tyres. We eventually got him to gun it up another part of the dune and sent him on his way, I've never seen someone with less mechanical sympathy. He was an astrophysicist and had been to Woomera for a few days and had been told he could do the track fine, hmmm! His story had made it onto ABC news for the area as locals were asking baout him at Kingoonya.
I got to Kingoonya about 2pm for a much needed good shit, a shower and then went to the pub! I started on the 700km drive home first thing in the morning.
So, just over 2000km down, a few hundred of that on an awesome track with great people, a fair bit of cider and a litre of rum consumed and I have an absolutely filthy Grand sitting in the driveway letting the other so called 4x4's know what they're supposed to look like. The Mrs and I went to the casino for lunch, it looked great parked with the very clean Audi and BMW's out the front

So, on the first morning on the track when it started to rain, it was crazy to see Googs Lake filling up, damn it started to fill quickly!
2 Jeeps didn;t make the trip, 2 WK1's, one of them had a bad oil leak, he reckons it was from the valley, another it was going into limp mode and losing power, so they bailed on the morning we kicked off for Googs, apparently they were happy to stop for the night somewhere (1 room with 1 bed, to share the costs)

You're all gonna get sick of my photo's, it's been a while since I've had any phototherapy, I had my phone, the drone, 2 cameras and bunch of lenses as usual, however once camp got setup each day, the brews started flowing and I forgot to get snaps, so much less than usual

It is damn good to be out, sleeping under the stars, getting covered in red dirt and forgetting about the rest of the world!

That's gorgeous! I'm 42 years old, lived in Aus for 3/4 of it, and never seen the outback. It's top priority after I finish off a couple things I'm working on...

No excuses now mate, get out there and enjoy it. The best bit is finding the tiny little country pubs on your trips, always a great night. The Kingoonya pub was a ripper, front bar could fit about 6 blokes in there, haha.
I'm getting a collection of stubby holders and stickers for the Engel from random little joints like that.

Gotta make the most of it. We’re out and about almost every weekend.

This was last weekend at lake Hume

And weekend before at Blowering Dam.

Not bragging but now that I’m down for a bit with the dreaded Rona, I’m glad we put the effort in the last 2 weekends as this one has me in Iso feeling decidedly ass!!
