Default Longer Shocks or shock extenders

My xj has 4.5" RE lift and I have just fitted JKS extended shackles and now my shocks are pretty much at the limit of their travel. So should I get longer shocks or just make up some spacers?
If I am going to get new shocks what should I get.
Has anyone made a spacer up before? How did it go.

Standard shocks will only go another 1 1/2" or so of travel........with a 4 1/2" lift you'll either rip the shocks apart or have NO down travel if they're really strong.

Don't bother "trying" to "engineer" shock extensions!.......Just buy the correct shocks for your lift!

So do you have any recommendations for longer shocks?

I looked up the go jeep method, it looks pretty good. I might give it a go.
