Default Wk2 my 14 gc

Hello all,
has anyone got some pics of how they have mounted a fridge slide into the rear of a GC WK2. Got my new MY14 last week and would like to see if what I have in mind could be improved on.
Upgraded the WH and could not be happier so far.....
Appreciate any feedback.
Regards
Mike

No pics, but a very simple fix. I wanted mine to come out completely when not travelling. I got some slotted angle iron from Bunnings, around $20, used ratchet tie downs to tie bar to anchor points (bar is full width of boot) and bolted slide to angle. Car has done 6500kms in last 3 1/2 weeks on all sorts of roads and fridge hasn't moved a bit. It does tilt very slightly when extended fully due to my ability to do up the tie downs. I've been able to keep rubber slush mat in boot and all.

Not perfect enough for some people I know, but it's safe enough .

Hi mate,

I wouldn't tie anything down to the existing tie down points, I've seen how they're mounted and it's pretty average.

I built a box for my fridge slide as it stays in there for storing in the garage, or using when we go camping/touring.

Pictures are on my build thread - http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/...d.php?t=123825

Hi Mike,
I don't have a fridge slide as such, but a fridge box you could call it.
The fridge box has storage underneath for my tools & recovery gear and the rear of the box houses my second battery.
The whole thing is held in by two screws. The battery is connected with an Anderson plug. Can be removed in less than a minute.
The fridge is not fixed in any way and does not move, even off road.

As mentioned, its not a slide but it may give you other ideas.

Pics below..............

Cheers, Craig

A couple of us - Scarps and I - have done it by making a replacement floor panel in the back. Mine is a 19 mm hardwood ply board with tough carpet on the top. It replaces the original floor perfectly.

Here is mine:

The fridge slide is long enough to hold the 40 litre Waeco and the 100 Ah Gel battery in a battery box with a DC-DC charger on top.

It is held down by a ratchet strap which is attached to a new bolt to hold down the spare tyre:

This is the new floor, with a circle of 19 mm ply to reinforce the centre.

The fridge slide and the compressor/air tank are held down with T-nuts into the 19 mm hardwood ply.

When i am going away, I just pull out the original floor, put in the new one and do up the ratchet strap. Then I load the battery, fridge and compressor/air tank and load the rest of the stuff. I use the car seat attachment point to anchor ratchet straps to hold everything down and I added a heavy duty loop near the front otf the fridge slide for the other ends of the ratchet straps.

Cheers

I did similar with mine. But i extended the bolt holding the spare down & use it to hold the floor in place. See round disk in floor near slide

I then braced the false floor underneath to hold full size 275/75/18 spare in place with new centre bolt now recessed & covered with hole cut out for recess. Used a spare wheel retainer from a toyota 86. screwed to ply floor . Carpeted the lot & fitted slide for fridge & battery mounts.

We leave the slide in all the time now & i have made a ply ,carpet covered box that we put the grocery`s & stuff in to stop them rolling around
