Default NSW New lift Limit

Hello guys,

First time owner of a Wrangler and very excited.. Would love your help and opinion.. I recently read that apparently since NOV 2016 new legal lift limit of 75mm was introduced .. Any one know if this is true and effective today ? Also wondering for a jeep JK Wrangler sports unlimited 2011 what is the max tyre size in inches and lift that i could run and be legal ? would i be able to do 2" lift and run 33" tyres for example??

I read somewhere online;
2" suspension
2" tyre (which is 1" cause tyres are circles)
Adds up to 3"

Legislation was in discussion stage in Vic & NSW
Sorry can't remember where that was

In Vic it is on the inter web on vic roads website section dealing with VSB's for mods. One would assume NSW has similar sections their website.

So after reading VSB's on gov webpage I have come to the conclusion (if i understand it correctly) that if using a lift + larger wheels a combined extra max height of 75mm is allowed but lift alone is maxed at 50mm. So imagining I have a 2" lift kit (50mm) how big of a wheel in inches can I legally fit to account for remaining 25mm ?

Also wondering if you where to get certified for larger lift and wheels does anyone know how much an engineer generally charges for this and where to get it done?

Below is what i read from gov webpage regarding lifts if it helps anyone:

3.2 Modifications that require assessing and certification
The significant modifications below require a vehicle to be assessed. The vehicle may be
subject to a single modification or a combination of modifications. If the vehicle has been
subject to a number of modifications, the assessment must ensure that the cumulative effect
of all the modifications are considered.
a. A change in the vehicle’s suspension –
i. that increases the vehicle’s ride height between 50mm and 125mm; or
ii. of up to 125mm that combined with an increase in the diameter of the wheel and
tyre combination of up to 50mm increases the vehicle’s ride height between
75mm and 150mm.

Simple answer in NSW, it's 2" suspension lift and 1" tyre lift without an engineers report.

You can't go 3" suspension and leave the tyres as they are either. You can only do both together or ether one or the other.

Also there is limits to rim and tyre sizes.
In NSW rim width (not tyre) is limited to 1" wider then original rim width
ie Wrangler rims are 7.5" wide so 8.5" is max without certification.

Tyre diameter is allowed up to 7% greater then largest stock option.
33.5" tall tyre sits around 7%, a 305/65r18 is 6.6% taller then the 245/75r17's stock Wrangler size.

Note: tyre width is limited by what will fit an 8.5 inch rim.
