Default It's Home - and it's clunking

So I brought the little baby hummer (cause that's what it looks like according to my sister, or Toorak Tank by one of the guys at work) home on Sunday and on the trip home I noticed it was doing something I hadn't noticed when I took it for a test drive.

I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that this isn't the reason they sold the car and that you guys are going to know exactly what's wrong with it and tell me it's easy to fix.

When I take my foot off the accelerater the car sort of makes a clunk noise (not very loud) and sort of jolts. Not much, but it is enough for the passanger to feel it and for it to move your head forward as it does it. My dad thinks it may have something to do with the big long rod (he said really confusing words that I can't remember, this is my best explenation) that goes down the centre of the car and that there is movement in it or something. He doesn't think it will cost a whole lot to fix. I really hope he is right.

Other then that the car is a gem. He had to get the drivers side seat fixed so that works but the passenger side doesn't go backwards or forwards - maybe they just swapped the eletrics over. haha

I've decided the original 6 stacker cd player is coming out and my old cd player is going in place of the casette player up the front as it is too hard to work and the time (which I don't know how to set) doesn't light up at night. Means that I'm going to be extremely tired as I'll always be having late nights. Is this an easy job? Meh, might just take it to Autobarn and get them to do it and not worry.

Everybody that has seen it wants it. My boyfriend thinks it is his car now, his parents would steal it I reckon if I'm not careful and my dad is kicking himself he got a forrester when he wanted a jeep. It really is a Jeep thing - I don't know any other 12 yr old car that can have the same affect on people.

Photos soon to come.

Hey Bud, try a few of things here to help with the clunk.

I had the same problem and greasing the hell out of the spline that goes into the transfer case fixed it for me.

Cool well I'll grease the hell out of it and see what happens.

Oh I forgot to mention that I noticed that all the lights have been tinted. Like the side indicators and the back break lights. Is this legal? I would assume so as it passed the roadworthy but who knows. Whatever the case it looks awesome with the black car!

Would be the slip spline in the driveshaft, prob just bound up. Look at getting yourself involved in the Melb Jeep club.........Then you have a wealth of local knowledge and help also.

I've been thinking about the Melb Jeep club. Will have to see what happens in the next couple of months. Sounds like a fun place. Do you have the website address?

So I just took the car for a drive to get some lunch and I'll see if I can describe it a bit better because it doesn't happen when I'm breaking - just when I don't have any pressure on the accelerator.

As I'm accelerating (doesn't happen sometimes) if I release all pressure and just let the car roll then it makes a 'Clunk' and also the movement would be best described as "pulling". The car suddenly feels like it's had a trailor just hitched up to it which only last for an instant. So it sort of pulls back on itself. Hope that makes sense. So it can result in a somewhat jerky ride for myself and the passangers, specially if I'm in a car park or something when your always accelarating then rolling.
If I take my foot of the accelerator extremely (so extreme I can't do it sometimes) slowly then the car doesn't do it. But obviously this isn't possible unless travelling on a highway. Also it doesn't matter what speed I'm doing. Could be 10k could be 100k, as soon as the accelerator isn't depressed - the car jolts and clunks.

Hopefully that explains things better.

Ok edited for more infomation -
I just drove my works Holden Adventura and that car did the same thing - only it was hardly noticable. I have never noticed it before but it was there only faintly. I'm assuming my car is just doing it heaps worse then what it is supposed to be because the Holden just came back from a service.
