Correct, it's a separate module that in Limited models is located down the back next to the subwoofer. In the Sport model, it can be retrofitted behind the glove box.

Are you "finalising" the disc at the end of the burn? If not, you may need to do this to allow the head unit to read the discs contents.
Failing that, try slowing down the burn speed, that may help.
