Perhaps your advice is best judged by your own statement "cheap doesn't have negatives"..... those that believe that are free to follow.

I'd still buy quality bits, up to the limit of my immedaite budget ( and DBOR stuff is good value in my experience ) aiming not to have to throw stuff away down the track as the limitations become obvious. Just keep in mind you will find issues when you use it - you'll either live with or have to spend more to fix properly.

If your budget was around the $2k mark I reckon you have just hit the nail on the head. Perfect under $2k solution.

$2000 will give you a reasonable kit

Aev kit or failing that Dbor kit. Otherwise pick and choose the componants you want, the trouble with doing it this way is sometimes things don't quite match as well as you hoped(meaning wasted money). Where as the aev kit and poly performance one from Dbor have had people who know what they are doing work them out. Virtually everyone i know who has tried the cheap route in the ends up paying much more than they expected or gives up and goes with another kit. The Mopar springs are a good stop gap until you can afford the more expensive kits as the 2" lift they provide gets the belly of the floor. Even with the stock shocks you are going to get reasonable travel and with traction control/lockers it is not the be all and end all to have massive articulation.
