there's also one on ebay currently quite cheap which bolts to the chassis. Modification of the bar would be pretty simple as it won't be carrying any of the structure.
Issue is as soon as you cut a hole in the top of the ARB bar you will make it useless. It will fold and bend very easily. Currently it is OK for moderate protection but is only lightweight it relies on the folds in the sheet to gain rigidity.
there's also the or-fab tyre carrier/can carrier, it bolt behind the tail light on a supplied heavy duty bracket, here's some links and have a look for yourself, just another option for you, explained more by the guyz who make em on the links below

You do have to cut into the tub - A couple 1" holes.
