Default Diesel Commander Maintenance

Hi,

I think that I posted thjis in the wrong section so maybe I will have more luck here.

I have just got my new (to me) 3.0L Diesel commander back from the service centre and they have suggested four things; 1) injector cleaning, 2) throttle body clean, 3) drive belt and pulley change and 4) turbo intake replacement.

I will probably just get 1 and 2 done with the next service but having looked at the belt it is cracked so I would like to do that sooner and having read about the swirl motor failures I would also like to get the new type of intake before the next service. I have a couple of questions that I was hoping someone might be able to help me with on item 3 and 4.

Where is the best place to buy the 53013672AE intake and should I clean the oil that has already dripped onto the swirl motor with degreaser or just wipe away what I can.

Where can I buy the provent (spelling) filter and hoses in Perth?

The car is second hand so I have no record of the timing belt ever being changed (170k on the clock) in fact I don’t even know if it has a belt, chain or gears ha ha. Should I consider doing the timing belt at the same time and is this job achievable for a reasonably competent home mechanic or is this a job best left to the mechanics. Sorry if this question has been done to death but there is a lot of info on the timing belt in the 2.8L diesels on here but I can’t find any on the 3.0L diesel.

Cheers

Thanks for that. In that case I think I will just do the serpentine belt and turbo intake on the weekend. Cheers

You can buy the Provent 200 ex Ebay from a company in Sydney. This would be the first item i'd change. I'f you do this you don't need to change the turbo input seal or pipe.
Serpentine belt change at 160,000km
I've done 130,000km and never needed an injector clean nor a throttle body clean but you can add an injector cleaning additive every 10,000 but make sure you use a recommended brand.
Make sure the diff oils have been changed on a regular basis, also the transfer case fluid at 50,000 and then the transmission fluid at 100,000.

G'day, I am a new member and this is my first post. I have a 2007 Commander and have read a lot of your posts on this site. I was wondering if there has been a conclusion as to whether it is safe to use the Mobilfluid 424 in the transfer case and are they any other alternatives.
many thanks mdm01
