Chrysler will sell you the springs saying you dont need to do anything else but fit the springs. Naively, I did this when I first got mine and discovered 30mm front and 25mm rear remaining shock travel. This made the shocks top out over normal speed humps in the shopping centre.

If you want to really save some money but get a short term lift, stick some 1.5in budget boosters (spring spacers - not body spacers). Then down the track when your springs have sagged and you have saved up some more money you can upgrade to a more comprehensive setup. From my experience, I would be hesitant to go even to 2in above stock without further mods to suit.

Definitely a big nooooo as seacomms said earlier, had the (twice stupidly) thinking its better than stock till I get good stuff..... Spend the money on good springs (I have DBOR's poly performance and they provide a good ride and excellent flex) you could cheap out with stock extensions at around 60-70 dollars each end to give you the travel back but to be honest that's nearly the price of one shock each end so may as well spend the little extra and get the shocks as well. If in doubt but need a quick fix just get a set of 1.5inch spring spacers to give you a bit of lift for a relatively cheap price until you are ready to spend the money on it. In the JEEP world most of us have learned the hard way do it once and do it right. (My case over my last 4 jeeps has been do it numerous times, do it wrong and eventually get there at a significantly higher price...)

Cheers

Yep, I'm with the above. I wanted to give my JK a lift when I fitted my 33's, but didn't have the cash for a decent lift kit. I bought a 1.5" Teraflex - Levelling kit as a band aid whilst I saved up for what I wanted, basically they are 2" spacers up front and 1" in the rear and longer sway bar linkages for the front. Cost me around $180 (including freight) and about 4-6 hours to fit. Now I am saving up for Suspension Stuff coils with Bilstein shocks as I haven't heard a bad thing about the combo.

I've done 25,000km since I had the Mopar springs (Lovells) and shockers fitted and they are fine.

It depends on what you're after.

As I mentioned before, the Mopar (Lovells) coils are listed in the Lovells catalogue as being for the 4 door CRD, same as yours DavidJ, not for the 400 kilo lighter 2 door petrol!! This is why I had so much trouble with them in mine. Driving up a track with the sway bar disconnected was almost no different to with it connected. Way to stiff for a 2 door IMHO.

This first one is mine a long time ago with the Mopar springs,

Same hill (different vehicle but still a 2 door petrol) with an OME 2in kit.

That certainly seems to be the case Dave, and I should have checked on what model Ste is driving instead of assuming that it was a JKU.
