I had a set of 33's fitted a few months ago and paid $20 a tyre and most quotes were in this area. If you pay $35 your getting shafted and you will find someone cheaper to do it. Also, when they fit a tyre they also balance it so thats not an extra. It's not a long exercise so IMO ring around and you will find a much fairer price than that

Yea I have a definite feeling of a non lubricated drumming to the nether region.
I've spoken with 3 places and they've all been real similar. I've even taken the tyres to the local shop as they wouldn't quote without seeing them first...
I was going to take em in on Monday to get done but from what you've all been saying I think I need to keep searching for someone who is priced appropriately.

Just to finish off this post.
I did end up taking it down to my local Bridgestone to get done. They then refused to actually mount the tyres which were a 315-70-17 onto the 17x8 wheels I have. They said the rim was too small and outside specifications. They even said my current 305-65-17 was too big for the wheels and never should have been mounted.

I then went to another tyre shop which promptly charged me $10 less per tyre ($20 each inc balancing) and mounted the 35's onto my rims and also re mounted the 33's onto the smaller 7.5 inch stock wheels. All done no hassles and they run and feel great. So I saved myself $150.. thanks to my local shop for refusing to do it.

yea these guys had a minimum 8.5 inch width in their book. I was concerned at first but doing some research it appears alot of people prefer it mounted to an 8inch to help not slip a bead and the added flex of the sidewall past the rim will protect them from more rocks marks.
Fingers crossed for test out soon.

Regards A
AG,
Most people that work in tyre places in the city would have never changed a tyre with leavers. Its a rare art. Its much more common with larger & unusual tyre applications. Good quality leavers are a breeze to use. If you are good at it, you dont need leavers to fit tyres, just a good rubber mallet & plenty of soap.
