Yep, I know what you mean. My first Jeep was a Commander and it had terrible left leg room but it did have a BIG strong transmission and bell housing to suit which I knew was good so I put up with it. I now have a Wrangler with a shit 4 speed transmission and no left leg room, WTF? Surely there must be a way to design a better way to give you more left leg room.

The lack of left leg space was something I noticed when I first got mine but I got used to it fairy quickly. That said I'd be lying if I said that even after 6 years of owning it that it wasn't still a bit annoying on longer trips. Not a deal breaker for me I can understand why it might bug people.

The problem is that a) they presumably want the transmission as high as possible, b) it's actually quite a narrow bodied car with deceptively little room inside and c) and most importantly, it's designed primarily as a left hand drive car. If right hand drive sales were a higher proportion of total sales then they might care but I'd be guessing they sell 20:1 (or even more) left hand right to right hand drive so it's probably not that high on their list of design priorities.

It was the same when I owned Falcons. When the BA came out after the AU it didn't have a foot rest and people on the Ford forums complained about it for about 5 minutes then was never raised again. Ive owned every model up until the last one and it was never a problem. It's probably why I've never noticed it in the Jeep.

I owned an 1966 Triumph GT6 and its pedals were offset to the right in relation to the seat. You felt like you were riding sidesaddle.

Somehow I don't think the OP is interested. He hasn't replied and has prolly gone on and bought a bus...with lots of leggy room.

Lots of reasons to not buy a Wrangler but the leg room is weak one.
