Default How many amps does the stock XJ sport alternator produce

Hey guys I am currently running an additional 500w of accessories over a stock Sport and wanting to increase this to a total of 1000w. Will the stock alternator keep the battery charged when drawing this much extra power.

regards A

Delco units have 65A or 90A.

If you have a Nippon Denso unit, it delivers 117A. The easiest upgrade is a Grand Cherokee unit 130A (not worth the money) then a Dodge Durango unit (160A) and last a 200A aftermarket unit(Mean green).
Delco and Denso are not interchangeable due to external and internal voltage regulation!

What about a lil' generator instead of dealing with batteries, chargers and run times? The cheapo ones will help you more than out...

The Xj's here use the 90A unit, some of the Zg's have the 136A unit which is a worthwhile, easy upgrade if the price is right.
I am fitting the 136A Zg unit to mine in the next week or so.....

What are you running that draws so much power????

Facelifts use the Denso unit, external regulated.

At 1000w you'll be pulling 83A from that alternator so while it's still under the maximum loading of the stock XJ unit the Grand Cherokee's 130A sounds a lot better does it not?
