Default 265/70/17 spare tyre well

My cousin has upgraded his Tyres and he wants to know what needs to be done to be able to fit the 265/70/17 tyre in the original spare tyre well underneath?

If its like my Grand (a Commander owner will have to confirm) the spare will fit with no air in it so carry a quality compressor, once in I pump it up enough to stop the tyre pressure warning.

I tried it on my commander when I first got my 265/70R17 ATZ's, and with the Hayman Reese towbar I have, even deflating they tyre - she's a no go. Not that it bothers me, mine is on my roof rack.

I believe a 265/65R17 will just squeeze in - but a 265/70 (well atleast with mine), it wont fit.

Yes it is - by about 20 to 30mm difference depending on what type of tyre you have.

I can just fit my 245/75/17 GY Wrangler into the spare wheel area. The diameter is approx 805mm when new. Also I can fit my off road mud tyre in there too, 265/65/17 also about 805mm dia.
