I noticed a clicking noise when I took off at low speed for the past week couldnt put my finger on where it was comeing from. I finally got the chance to jack it up and have a look underneath tonight.
It apears to be comeing from the point where the fromt drive shaft conects to the transfer case .I am not sure what this is called but it perfoms similarly to a universal joint..
Does anyone know what these critters are called and can they be rebuilt or replace independently from the drive shaft

Front prop shaft CV, very common. Failure is usually caused by worn out front diff mounts which increase the angle the CV runs at.
Eventually the increased angle causes the CV boot to tear allowing the grease to get out & dirt in.
I've replace 2 by Front dive shaft rear CV as described for about $150 each time and the Front/front one once for about the same.
