Default kJ Service

Hi All,
Had my KJ 3.7l v6 - 48000 km service done the other day at Albion Jeep. $1264.WOW. My old 1991 NH Pajero's 100000 timing belt service did not cost that much]PLUS $770.0 for front Rotors and pads. Did not get that done.I cant believe that the front discs need to be replaced @ 48000KMs. Pads yes but discs?. ABS at Geebung want $440 for the full works or $120 for the pads and $35.00 for a hone of the discs if the discs are ok.
There was a query about the Dif additivea while back.
Was it required or not.
In my account Diff Additive (4 oz) (KO4318060AB) 1off $20.58

At the 42K service, My dealership told me that my front disc's and rotors needed to be replaced too. They wanted $600.

I ended up buying Green Stuff Brake pads and RDA discs.
Cost- $300

Did the change myself. Very easy job !!

Wooders online shop price for front rotors and disc pads worked out to $330.00.
I pulled a front wheel off today to look at the disc and I think a hone would do the job or is there something I am missing regards the quality of the rotors.

You have to check the thickness of the rotor at it's thinnest point.

That would be in the deepest groove. (Remember, when a rotor gets honed; it is honed smooth to the lowest part) If this falls below the factory reccomended tolerance then rotor replacement is mandatory.

I think the lowest (thinnest) it can be is 28 or 29 mm.

If you have any doubt about the wear, tell them in advance that you want to see the old parts. That prevents the unnecessary replacement, which is good for the dealer, but bad for your wallet.

do it by yourself, if you want it done right

If I do the job myself I might as well replace the rotors and then I know everything is sweet.

Hi,
Had mine done at 48k too. Cost the same in NZ$. BIG service tho. ALL fluids etc. Chrysler stipulate this. Also, looks good on the 'system' for when you sell as it shows the thing is upto date on the Chrysler network all over the place!
Even in NZ.
Also, they did my recalls at the same time.

Worth it in my book. Especially in NZ where people like a doumented service history.
