Hi,

Codes for '95 and '96 are for the older diesel cherokees. Diesel XJ only came to Aus with the '97 update.

FWIW from my diagnostic manual for a 97 to '01 XJ diesel code TC24 is check engine...

Just asking cause I had similar and that was all it was. Someone had put a small piece of gauze in the vent hose which clogged up.

Try disconnecting the crankcase vent tube form the air intake.

The crankcase then will vent to atmosphere rather than the air intake.

If the smoke stops you may have:-

1) vacuum leak...
